The Douglas DC3 is a twin engined passenger and cargo aircraft developed from the Douglas DC2.
The C-47 is the military transport variant of the Douglas DC-3 airliner and served with the United States Army Air Force (USAAF) and many other Allied air forces. Known as the Skytrain in USAAF service, the aircraft was employed in a variety of roles including dropping paratroopers into combat zones, the airlifting of supplies and cargo, casualty evacuation and glider towing. Over 10,000 C-47’s were produced in factories in the United States.
