The Airbus A320 was the first narrow body aircraft developed by the European Airbus company and the worlds first fully fly-by-wire civil airliner. The A320 was the first member of the A320 familywhich also includes the A318, A319 and A321. The aircraft was launched in March 1984 and first flew on 22nd February 1987 with the first delivery to Air France in March 1988. The aircraft is a shortto medium range aircraft and is powered either by the CFM56 or V2500 engine. Some later A320s have new larger blended winglets. In December 2010 Airbus announced a new generation of theA320 family to be named the New Engine Option (NEO) with the original aircraft being renamed the Conventional Engine Option (CEO). The NEO will be powered by the CFM Leap-1A or PW1100Gand includes some airframe and aerodynamic enhancements.
