The Fairchild Dornier 328JET is a commuter aircraft based upon the turboprop Dornier 328. The aircraft was built in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany originally by Dornier Luftfahrt Gmbh with the prototype rolling out on 6th December 1997 with the first flight on 20th January 1998. Before the first flight Dornier was bought by Fairchild Aircraft and formed the company Fairchild Dornier. The 328 JET has the same fuselage as the turboprop aircraft seating 44 passengers. A stretched version of the aircraft was proposed but was never built. In total 110 aircraft were built.
