Profiles and Logos

The C-130 Hercules is a four engined turboprop transport aircraft built by Lockheed. The aircraft is capable of operating from unprepared runways for take-offs and landings. The aircraft is very versatile and has been used in many roles and modified for specialist missions. The first flight of the YC-130 prototype was on 23rd August 1954 from Burbank, California. The aircraft entered service with the USAF in December 1956. There have been many improvements over the years, including upgraded engines and propellers and strengthened wings. There are two standard fuselage lengths, the short aircraft having a cargo hold of 12.19m (40ft) and the long version a length of 16.67m (55ft).
