The Lockheed L-1011 TriStar was a pioneering American medium-to-long-range, wide-body trijet airliner. Introduced in 1972, it was the third wide-body jet to enter commercial service, following the Boeing 747 and the McDonnell Douglas DC-10.
Despite its technical superiority, the L-1011 was a financial failure for Lockheed. Severe development delays and financial crises at Rolls-Royce caused the aircraft to enter the market a year after the rival DC-10, leading to poor sales. Consequently, Lockheed withdrew from the commercial aviation business following the end of TriStar production.
The cockpit diagrams are drawn using visits to aircraft and simulators as well as from Bombardier documentation.
